Lan Yingjie

born 15 November 1990 in Singapore

Schooling:

  1. YMCA Kindergarten (1994-1995)
  2. Newton Kindergarten (1995-1996)
  3. Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) (1997-1998)
  4. Anglo-Chinese School (Primary) (1999-2002)
  5. The Chinese High School (2003-2004)
  6. Hwa Chong Institution (2005-2008)

Before you accuse me of jumping schools like mad, I shall point out that my days at ACS were fragmented by the splitting of the full school into two, and I continued my education at the newly formed primary section. Interestingly, I spent two years in The Chinese High, which merged with Hwa Chong Junior College to produce a six-year institution. One wonders why this keeps happening.

...

Yingjie's a 18 year old guy who's about to go bald in the army. About, because he's got about a month left. So quickly, here's 3 quick things about him!

1. Fencing

I'm a fencer (doing both foil and epee), though I'm moving towards epee these days. It would appear to me that I just can't deal with the whole patience for right of way, so I'll be switching soon I guess. I used to fence for Hwa Chong Fencing (back in 2007 and 2008) and now I'm with Absolute Fencing. I'm on hiatus from fencing now though, mostly because of the A-levels but now to finish up some side projects and things with the limited time I have. I'll be back to the piste soon though!

2. Coding

Also, I do a bit of code here and there, mostly in PHP. I can do basic web scripting but I prefer to grab pre-written code and modify. Why bother wasting time! Most of these skills were picked up in EC³ (ee-see-cube) in my High School days at Hwa Chong Institution.

3. Christian

Finally, I'm a converted Christian who came to know Christ at the age of 15, just before my 16th birthday. Having gone through 6 years of Christian education and coming out a total skeptic, it was quite a remarkable change and I'm glad for it. I worship at Faith Methodist Church on Sundays at The Tackle Box service and generally try to be on time. I'm not quite good at waking up early though, that must be said.

After Graduation Day in JC. I'm on the left, Siheng's on my right.
